Alternatives To Truck Tool Boxes
Posted on July 26th, 2008 by mmStreet
People who carry tools and other items (such as camping gear) around in their truck beds typically don’t want to leave those items just lying around in the bed of the truck. A large percentage of these people will buy truck tool boxes for the storage of their items. However, there are other options which also work just as well.
Some common alternatives to truck tool boxes include:
- Utility trailer boxes. People who only need the tool box for camping may also be towing a boat or some other recreational vehicle. These boxes go on the tow hitch.
- Tonneau covers. These cover the entire bed of the truck and can be locked to keep everything in there safe inside.
- Tool totes. These are similar to truck tool boxes but are portable. It is wise to do something to lock or secure these to the bed of the truck so someone else can’t take off with them.
- Enclosed ladder racks. These allow for storage above the bed of the truck; enclosed styles keep things locked up safe.
Some people will opt to just leave important items in the cab of the truck, rather than in the bed, so they can lock the doors and keep things safe that way.
