Finding a Good Mechanic
Posted on July 15th, 2008 by mmStreet
Do you have a good mechanic? If so, you should count yourself as one of the lucky few people in the world because most people haven’t been able to find a mechanic that they truly trust with their cars.
Here are some of the steps that you want to take to find a good mechanic in your area:
- Ask people you know if they have a good mechanic. Recommendations from people you trust are best.
- Check online for reviews of different local mechanics. Sites like Yelp can be useful although the information should be read with the understanding that the opinions could be biased or the reviews could be falsified.
- Ask your automotive insurance agent for a list of good mechanics. Check them against the Better Business Bureau for complaints before checking them out.
- Spend time meeting mechanics in your area. Ultimately, the gut instinct is going to be your best indication of whether or not you can trust a mechanic so take time to find one that you really feel good about.
Finding a good mechanic takes time and effort. You want someone with experience in working on the kind of car that you have, someone that you get along well with and someone with a good business reputation. When you find a good one, hang on to him!
