Busted!
I work at an auto dealership as the sales manager. Not a real glamorous job, and some people think of me as the lowest form of life on the planet because of the reputation, but that’s OK. I like my job because there is always something new and interesting happening. Like here recently when I had a little caper to solve.
It seems that auto accessories started disappearing off of our used inventory. It was mostly chrome truck accessories that appeared to be growing legs and walking off. And not just small stuff either. In one instance they took some bull bars right off the front of an F350!
The first thing I did was contact the police. They were about as helpful as a screen door in a submarine. So I did a little investigation of my own. The security cameras in our lot are all fakes, so they were no help. Then I got the wild idea to look on Craigslist. How about that? There were some bull bars for a ford F350. I arranged to buy them and went over to the seller’s house. And when I got there, it was one of our lot techs! We did not prosecute, but we got almost all of our stuff back and he repaid us what he had gotten for the other stuff. Oh, and he lost his job.
